Banks Cosponsors the Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act

Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) today issued the following statement after cosponsoring H.R. 7059, the Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act of 2018:

“This legislation is simple, direct and absolutely critical to our national security,” said Banks. “It will secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws. Decades of lax policies have encouraged millions of illegal immigrants to cross our borders and undermine the rule of law. Congress should work with the administration and pass this bill to defend our borders and fulfill one of President Trump’s key campaign pledges.”

Full legislative text can be found here.

The legislation would fully fund President Trump’s border wall by appropriating the full amount requested by President Trump for its construction, bringing the total amount of funding to $25 billion. The legislation would make $5.5 billion in funding available immediately. The bill also would combat sanctuary cities and human trafficking and support federal law enforcement agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
