Banks Receives National Taxpayers Union’s “Taxpayers’ Friend Award”

Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) today received the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” from the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) for having an “A” voting record on supporting lower taxes, limited government and economic freedom. This year Banks is one of only 66 members of Congress to have earned the award.

“The NTU’s fiscal scorecard is one of the most comprehensive in Washington and I am proud to be named a ‘Taxpayers’ Friend’,” said Banks. “I was sent to Congress to represent hard-working Hoosiers and support policies that allow them to keep more of their paychecks, and I will continue to do so as we work to rein in federal spending.”

Background
NTU’s rating program is designed to calculate a member’s voting record on fiscal responsibility by evaluating every vote that has an impact on tax, spending, trade, and regulatory policy utilizing a methodical weighting system. NTU has recognized Representatives and Senators since 1979 who annually earn high voting scores to qualify them for the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.” See NTU’s full 2017 congressional scorecard and further analysis here
