Banks Votes to Cut $15 Billion in Unused Funds
Washington,
June 7, 2018
Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) today released the following statement after voting for H.R. 3, the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act, which will cut nearly $15 billion in unused funds:
“Rescinding nearly $15 billion in unused funds is common-sense. While there is a lot more work to do to address government spending, this is a small step in the right direction. “The rescission tool has proven successful in the past, as President Reagan used it over 200 times and President Clinton used it over 100 times. My hope is Congress will continue to work with the Administration and use this tool to cut more unnecessary federal spending.”
