Said Rep. Jim Banks: “NPR’s new CEO is a radical, left-wing activist who doesn’t believe in free speech or objective journalism. Hoosiers shouldn’t be writing her paychecks. Katherine Maher isn’t qualified to teach an introductory journalism class, much less capable of responsibly spending millions of American tax dollars. NPR was a liberal looney bin under the last CEO John Lansing, and it’s about to get even nuttier. It’s time to pull the plug on this national embarrassment. Congress must stop spending other people’s hard-earned money on low grade propaganda.”

In 2019, NPR published an erroneous “correction” after Congressman Banks correctly stated that Adam Schiff lied about his relationship with Ukraine “whistleblower” Eric Ciaramella during an on-air interview. According to a recent report from Real Clear Investigations, Mr. Ciaramella accompanied then-Vice President Biden on his trip to Ukraine in 2015, at which the former Vice President demanded the Ukrainian government fire prosecutor Victor Shokin.

A recent piece from now-former NPR editor Uri Berliner brought public attention to the outlet’s longstanding partisan bias. For example, NPR’s Washington, D.C., news team includes 87 registered Democrats and zero registered Republicans.

Katherine Maher, NPR’s recently appointed CEO, has described the First Amendment as “the number one challenge” to combatting “misinformation,” and has attacked former President Donald Trump on social media on several occasions.
