CITI Subcommittee Ranking Member Banks Announces FY23 NDAA Priorities

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Jim Banks (IN-03), Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems (CITI), announced his priorities ahead of the Fiscal Year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act markup:

  • Batteries: Creating a strategy for the DOD’s acquisition and long-term use for battery technology
  • Biotechnology: Understanding competitor threats from biotechnology advances and bolstering U.S. research
  • Defense Innovation Unit (DIU): Expanding the reach of DIU’s effort to include non-traditional defense contractors into the defense acquisition system
  • DARPA reform: Improving the way DARPA budgets and integrating new technologies into the hands of the warfighter

Ranking Member Banks said, “Our Armed Forces must have the resources they need to combat the evolving threats of the modern world. Investing in these critical research areas will help prepare our military for the battlefield of the future.”

“As Ranking Member for the CITI subcommittee, ensuring our nation is technologically equipped to compete with growing adversarial forces like China is my top priority in Congress.”
