Rep. Banks Applauds Kathie Green’s Lifetime of Service

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03) attended the Congressional Management Foundation’s 2021 Democracy Award for Staff Lifetime Achievement ceremony for his former constituent services staffer and immigration specialist Kathie Green. Kathie served as a district staffer in Indiana’s 3rd Congressional district for 13 years under Representatives Mark Souder, Marlin Stutzman and Jim Banks before her retirement in March 2021. Rep. Banks nominated Kathie Green for the award last year.

Said Rep. Banks: “If you reached out to my office for help with an issue, you probably worked with Kathie, and if you worked with Kathie, you know that she not only was competent and professional, but also incredibly nice. Kathie has a sterling reputation in northeast Indiana and is one of the most well-liked people I know. That’s not a coincidence—it’s the result of over a decade of gracious and dedicated service.

Over her 13 years in my district office, Kathie became an expert in helping others navigate complex federal agencies, and she worked to ensure that other congressional offices and their constituents benefited from her knowledge. Kathie went into this line of work to help Hoosiers, and she was a huge success, but because of her dedication, her impact extended far beyond northeast Indiana. It was an honor to see Kathie Green get the recognition she deserves in Washington.”

Kathie is widely recognized for her leadership and expertise by constituent service workers. She wrote a training manual for constituent services staff, which is now used by congressional offices around the country and has lead multiple caseworker training sessions with hundreds of attendees on behalf of Congressional Staff Academy. Within Rep. Banks’ district office, Kathie earned a reputation as a hard worker. During the early days of the COVID pandemic, she worked tirelessly, often taking over 100 phone calls a day, and in 2020 alone, Kathie’s constituent services team successfully completed 1,359 cases and returned $337,822 to northeast Indiana taxpayers. Among northeast Indiana residents, Kathie is best known for her kindness and passion for serving Hoosiers.
