Reps. Banks, Davis Call on J6 Committee to Release Required Staffing Reports

WASHINGTON—Today, Republican Study Committee Chair Jim Banks and Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration Rodney Davis announced their letter calling on the Chair of the Committee on House Administration and Member of the Select Committee on the January 6th Attack (J6 Committee) Zoe Lofgren to release the J6 Committee’s required monthly staffing reports. Read the letter HERE.

Said Rep. Banks: “The January 6th Committee has flouted every Congressional rule that interferes with their attack on American’s Constitutional rights. This is an entirely partisan investigation operating in secret.

“I hope Americans are paying attention to what Democrats do with total power. They harass and intimidate without accountability or transparency.”

Said Rep. Davis: “As the J6 Committee continues to operate in a completely partisan manner, it is also operating in violation of House rules. The J6 committee, which has an unlimited budget set up by House Democrats, has failed to publish required reports showing a summary of investigations, expenses, travel, list of employees, and other important information all committees are required to report.

“I think it’s pretty obvious why this sham of a committee wants to keep its operations secret from the American people.”

Background:

The Committee’s Congressional Handbook requires every committee to submit a monthly report to the Committee on House Administration that includes a summary of its progress, a statement of expense and a list of employees.

Monthly reports from are publicly available on the Committee’s website. Find the Select Committee on Benghazi’ monthly staffing reports during the 114th Congress here.

Reps. Banks and Davis were appointed by Leader McCarthy to serve on the J6 Committee, but Leader McCarthy withdrew his appointments after Speaker Pelosi’s unprecedented decision to deny Rep. Banks a seat on the Committee.
