WASHINGTON – After Senate Democrats filibustered the Pain Capable Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, Rep. Jim Banks, member of the House Pro-Life Caucus, released the following statement: “Democrats in the House and Senate are completely out of step with mainstream America’s respect for the sanctity of human life. Today, Democrats blocked the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act that would prohibit abortions past the 20th week of pregnancy when studies show unborn children begin to feel pain. 64% of Americans support the bill, and the US is only one of seven countries in the world that allows abortions 20 weeks into a pregnancy. It doesn’t matter if you use scientific, democratic, global or moral standards. By any measure, the Democrats’ radical pro-abortion stance is shocking. Democrats also blocked the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act today, which mandates that doctors must attempt to save newborn survivors of failed abortion attempts. I’ve yet to hear a reasonable explanation for Democrats’ opposition to this bill, and I don’t expect to. Democrat support for infanticide is an indefensible stain on Congress and this entire nation.” |
