Washington,
July 29, 2019
WASHINGTON D.C. -- In reaction to President Trump's announcement that Dan Coats will be stepping down as Director of National Intelligence, Rep. Jim Banks (IN-03) released the following statement: Said Rep. Banks, "Dan Coats has served this president well for two and a half years, and he has served our nation admirably for over five decades in different roles that started in the congressional district we both call home in northeast Indiana. His integrity and commitment to public service are unmatched, and I am proud to call him a mentor and friend. America is grateful that Director Coats has strived to depoliticize our nation’s intelligence during a time when that has been difficult to do. His legacy for doing so will only grow in the years to come. My best to Dan and Marsha as they begin the next chapter in their extraordinary lives of public service."
Dan Coats is the previous senator from Indiana and represented Indiana's 4th district from 1981 to 1989. At the time, the 4th district encompassed the northeast corner of Indiana including Fort Wayne. Dan Coats succeeded Dan Quayle as representative of IN-04. ### Congressman Jim Banks represents Indiana’s 3rd Congressional District and serves on the House Armed Services Committee, Committee on Veterans Affairs, and Committee on Education and Labor.
